Brighton’s Owen Davis, top, makes a juggling catch over Canandaigua’s Mitchell Pfeiffer for the game-winning overtime touchdown in Canandaigua on Saturday.

Owen Davis hauled in a touchdown on the first overtime possession for Brighton and then the Barons stopped Canandaigua on a two-point conversion attempt for a 21-20 victory in a Monroe County game Saturday.

An 18-yard TD pass from Shea McDonald to Davis in OT gave Brighton (4-0) a 21-14 lead. The Braves (3-1) answered with an AJ Clifford touchdown run but couldn’t convert the pass on the conversion.

Vicki Finn’s game-winning goal in the 73rd minute — her second of the game — helped lift Geneseo to a 3-2 win over Avon in the Section V Class C girls soccer state qualifier Tuesday.

Finn’s first goal opened the scoring, but Avon responded with goals by Mackenzie Culhane and Katrina Yencer to take a 2-1 lead.

Five minutes after Yencer’s goal, Kaity Keihl found the back of the net on a 20-yard shot from the right side that hit the far post and found its way in for Geneseo to even the score at 2.

In the 73rd minute, Finn got the ball, faked a defender out and got a shot on goal that was blocked, but it came right back to her feet and she was able to connect for the game-winner.

The Blue Devils will face Maple Grove (VI) at 3 p.m. Saturday at SUNY Geneseo in the Western Regional.
